Meet the Founders of The Alcove: Pat Smith & Mindy Shemtov

PATRICIA D. SMITH holds a master's degree in Social Work from Bryn Mawr College, School of Social Work and Social Research. Additional post-graduate training includes: Certificate in Human Services Management from Rutgers University Continuing Education and Professional Development Program; clinical Training in Mind/Body Medicine sponsored by Harvard Medical School, Department of continuing Medical Education. She has 13+ years of experience in mental health counseling and therapy with both children and adults. In her private practice she provided psychotherapy to outpatient clients with a focus on: grief, marital family problems, depression, panic and anxiety and stress related problems. She served on The Atlantic County Mental Health Advisory Board; The Atlantic county Commission on Child Abuse and Missing Children and The New Jersey Coalition Against Sexual Assault.

MINDY SHEMTOV holds a master's degree in Social Work from Rutgers University. She is also Certified in Human Services Management from Rutgers University. She has 13+ years experience in providing mental health and substance abuse counseling to both adults and children. She was the supervisor of the sexual assault program at the Atlantic County Women's Center and the Mental Health Administrator for Atlantic County. She worked as a consultant and therapist for the United States Department of Veteran's Affairs. She is currently in private practice where she provides individual therapy specializing in issues of grief, substance abuse and mental health. She was appointed the chairperson of the HIV consortium of Atlantic and Cape May Counties. She has served as a member of the Atlantic County Youth Services Commission and The Southern Regional Children's Interagency Coordinating Council.
